Martin 00-21 Golden Era

Acoustic Guitar

C.F. Martin & Co.

The Martin 00-21, 12-fret Golden Era guitar is a recreation of the popular small bodied slotted-head Martin guitar that has been among the most popular acoustic guitars this past century. With a top made from Adirondack red spruce and back and sides from selected East Indian rosewood, the 00-21 Golden Era has a rich and balanced tone along with a beautiful finish. All of the bracing and other finely-crafted features are done exactly as the original Golden Era model, whose fame rose to an all-time high during World War II. The 00-21 Golden Era will be available in stores beginning this summer. C. F. Martin & Co, 510 Sycamore St., P.O. Box 329, Nazareth, PA 18064-0329; http://www.mguitar.com/

The NS/Stick

Unusual Instrument

Stick Enterprises

Known simply as the “Stick,” this unique string instrument is played by tapping the strings instead of strumming or picking. With two hands tapping separate melody lines, bass lines or chord structures, a densely textured sound can emerge from the playing of an accomplished stickmeister. The stick comes in several models including a new eight-string version called the NS/Stick. The NS/Stick comes with two different pickup options: the active EMG-FT model ($1,595) and the passive pickup model ($1,095). The NS/Stick will be available this summer. Stick Enterprises, 6011 Woodlake Ave., Woodland Hills, CA 91367; <http//www.stick.com/>
