Brother Cane

Wishpool

Virgin Records

This Alabamese quartet’s third album, Wishpool, is quite average and uninteresting. Since their 1995 big hit “And the Fools Shine On,” Brother Cane has been trying hard to put out material that would strike a chord with the consumers, but without success. With huge, chunky sounding guitar parts, and good songcrafting, BC comes closer towards achieving this goal in Wishpool… yet, the melodic hooks and attitude that givesthe band an edge are missing from this album. However, the band displays a lot of potential in this effort. Highlights: Radio hit “I Lie in The Bed I Make” and intense “Machete.”LAS
