The Bevis Frond

North Circular

Flydaddy

Bevis Frond main man Nick Saloman has lately been noted for his collaboration with Mary Lou Lord for her major-label debut. Saloman has a deliberate and distinctive sound that speaks equal and vaporous volumes of punk, psychedelia and folk, and he’s never at a loss for song, as this two-disc set attests. Like an artist’s notebook, there are sketches and there are doodles, and some are more interesting than others – but overall, despite its great girth, North Circular feels like a quick listen, as Saloman casually tosses off his multidinous choruses.
