The Black Heart Procession

What is this, a wake? This sounds like the recording engineer’s suicide note!

(Dave, that’s cruel.) Oh, OK. The Black Heart Procession is a collection of piano and background electronic songs, sung by a lonely, very depressed man. “The Waiter,” the first song, isn’t so depressing, though, it has some sort of happy chimes mixed in with the piano. Other than that, it’s all a downward spiral of dark sorrow. The only uplifting tune is “The Winter My Heart Froze,” which is an instrumental reminding me of entering a haunted house, that is, it’s sort of “gothic.” Come to think of it, “goths” will like this, but I need to turn it off.
