Gas Huffer

Just Beautiful Music

I don’t know if I would use the word beautiful, but `fun’ definitely comes to mind. I guess it’s all relative. It’s safe to call this a punk album, but at the same time, doing so would be too constrictive. These guys enjoy putting many different aspects of the music world to the classic Fender pumped power chords. The first song starts off as a great example of what a great song should be by hooking you instantly with its melody and energy. After that, the band chose to diversify a bit by adding everything from kettledrums to space bongos. To me, this album was like 2112 (the old Rush album), except a bunch of punks wrote it. It rages out, it calms down, it rages out again and seems to tell a story at the same time. I usually try to recommend one specific song to listen to, but you have to play the whole thing because it’s just got so much personality. Epitaph Records, 2789 Sunset Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90026
