Once a Jolly Swagman, Always a Jolly Swagman

Liberation

This is a collection of tracks from three releases from this Australian punk band, recorded between 1993-95. I don’t care for the earlier stuff at all. Around track eight of twenty-four is when I start enjoying things. The music at this point seems based mostly in poppy punk laced with Bad Religion melodies (just a bit), but they also manage to mix things up enough to keep me interested in a style of punk rock I’m more than a little sick of. The later the year gets, the better the songs. They lose the Bad Religion aspects and their catchiness gets more interesting as the songwriting gets better. The later tracks are damn good. A good overview of band that’s obviously been around for a while but that I’ve heard squat about. Definitely worth checking out. Liberation Records, P.O. Box 17746, Anaheim, CA 92817
