Bis

Intendo

Grand Royal

For years when someone mentioned rock music and Scotland, the only thing that came to mind was the Bay City Rollers chanting “S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y… Night_.” But all of that has changed, because Bis is back with their second full-length album, and it is fabulous. Not being one to toss around rave reviews, _Intendo is easily one of the best records I’ve heard this year. It is a revival of fun new wave. Bands like the Vapors, the Waitresses, Blondie, and Sparks must have had a major impact on the young psyches of this young trio. They have captured the sound and spirit of those bands and infused the whole thing with their brash, in your face attitude. Intendo is far better than The New Transistor Heroes, which coming after their EP, This is Teen-C Power, was somewhat lacking. It was a good record, but unlike Intendo, is not one you want to listen to until the people you live with go insane. Music hasn’t been this much fun since the B-52’s were young.
