The Legendary Jim Ruiz Group

Sniff.

Minty Fresh

Sissy rock for those of us that delight in the sweet and sappy. Jim Ruiz has a voice that sounds barely adequate for his pop musings, but it all seems to work together well. The sound is a blast from the past, and even Ruiz does a pretty thorough (and melancholy) name check in “Goodbye to All That,” where he lists those bands he misses: Style Council, Aztec Camera, and Orange Juice, among others…

If any of those names sparked your interest, Sniff. would be worth your while to investigate. Ruiz’s soft and gentle sounds are guaranteed to clear your parties of any unruly elements (or get your stereo wrecked in the process), and I can’t think of anything better for a breezy summer evening.
