So Kenny Howes packed up his bags and moved to Atlanta? Lucky Atlantans. Howes is not afraid to wear his influences (mostly pop) on his sleeve, and is that really such a fashion crime? Especially when it seems that Howes comes up with something noteworthy and wholly original more often than not. “Something Really Great” could have come straight out of Dylan’s Highway 61 Revisited, while the subsequent “Never Left” could easily be a lost Beach Boys song, chock fulla harmonies. But there’s also some prime twists in “Miss Omaha” and “Back To You Today.” Long live pop! AAJ Records, 1350 Mahan Dr. #E-4, Suite 203, Tallahassee, FL 32308
