Disturbing Behavior

Music from the Motion Picture Soundtrack

Trauma

The soundtrack for Disturbing Behavior, a Stepford Wives for the teenage set, features a strong collection of edgy rock songs with no instrumental “theme” filler. The disc showcases tracks culled mostly from recent album releases, serving a dual purpose of previewing some cool new bands to watch out for. Just prior to the release of their American debut (also on the Trauma imprint) there’s a peek at Britain’s hard rock upstart of the moment, Janus Stark, whose melodic screamer, “Ever Little Thing Counts,” kick-starts the disc. Examples of songs that further the action of the film are Addict’s brooding “Monster Side” (sounding much like Radiohead’s “Creep”) and the Flys “Got You Where I Want You,” a seductive, love croon that adopts a tone of sinister manipulation within the context of the plot. Hutt’s “Hole in My Soul” is an old school punk rave-up with some bluesy harmonica thrown in for the novelty of it. Eva Trout’s nostalgic “Drivetime Radio” and Treble Charger’s “Ever She Flows,” featuring some lovely, resonant guitar work, are two of the discs mellower cuts.
