Now Denial

Swerve the Curves

Get beyond the first song, with its unconvincing swagger, and this is one pleasant EP. Now Denial serves up five mid-tempo rock songs with a few unmistakable Britpop influences, and they appear to have worked damn hard to polish both their songs and production. Especially compelling are the two songs featuring two top-notch Russian musicians on cello and violin. Jason Gonzalez, who contributed the string arrangements, found a wonderful compliment to round out Now Denial’s regular four-piece guitar-based outfit. Also standing out are the frequent guitar flourishes delivered with an unhurried confidence–musicianship that does deserve the aforementioned swagger.
