pH Balance

pH Balance

Daemon

pH Balance, featuring the former lead singer of Cicada Sings, lays down some of the smoothest grooves this side of Deee-Lite, melding rap, trip-hop, and acid jazz with the confident, soulful vocals of Pam Howe. The sound is complex, but never overwhelms the listener or shoves its cleverness in your face. The object is some groovy tunes, not techno wizardry. This is an easily accessible record that soon becomes an addiction. Pam Howe’s voice captivates the listener as she weaves through 13 tracks. All though there are easy comparisons to Portishead, Deee-Lite, Ruby, and maybe even Gus Gus, pH Balance is far from a generic sound alike. They have cut their own path through the muddled music scene and emerged as a beacon for people looking for a really lovely record without soulless pretension.
