Heavy Whipping Cream

Opulence!

A real good ugly, fuzzy punk/core rock opener. Very heavy at times, mixing a lot of hybrid-rap with that angst-filled Rollins-inspired ‘core. Great headbanging action will be found on “For What” and “Beautiful.” The latter having an excellent groove, just right for stomping the right people – not forgetting an elbow in the gut.

The vocalist must really be singing from deep-down, because it sounds like he’s in a lot of pain. It’s got to hurt. “King Mackerel” is even more so painful. The guys is crying along to the grinding, crunching guitars and pounding drums. Even though I can’t understand a word he’s saying, the effect is enough – I know what he’s feeling. Then again, maybe I don’t because it sounds like, for the sake of his art, he must had someone really put him in physical pain to get such a guttural yowl. Is this what it feels like to get a tattoo? What about being skinned alive and thrown into a vat of salt? Don’t know, but these guys must.
