4 Hr. Ramona

Pharmacy Park

Yeah, It’s Rock

This CD was a little bit deceiving in a couple ways. First, with “Ramona” as part of the band name, and the woman member of the band wearing a Cramps T-shirt on the front cover, followed by the inside-cover admonition “PLAY THIS CD LOUD!,” I have to admit to some pretty high punk rock and roll expectations.

I should have paid attention to the label name, however, because punk it ain’t – yeah it’s rock. Contrary to popular belief, I like non-punk rock and roll, too, but some of this was a little slow tempo-wise for me. 4 Hr. Ramona are solid rootsrock with some psychobilly flourishes, without the Cramps camp factor. Good stuff and a great sped-up cover of the Boss’s “I’m On Fire.”
