Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

Music from the Motion Picture

Maverick

A hodge-podge of sound sources, from pure undiluted alt.rock (Ocean Colour Scene’s “Hundred Mile High City”) to dub (old style Junior Murvin, new style E-Z Rollers), funk (James Brown x 2), punk (Stooges, “I Want to Be Your Dog”), and a couple of odds and ends like Dusty Springfield’s rendition of “Spooky” and Murphy & Hughes’ slightly electrified “Zorba the Greek.” There’s also the expected complement of sound bites from the film. While there is no single factor that unites these tracks together, or even to the film, it’s a pretty solid collection of a variety of sounds. Play it at your next party and watch the word of the night become “Horti-fucking-culturalist.”
