Murder Suicide Pact
Murder Suicide Pact
Burrito
Intense, fast-paced Oi-based hardcore punk rock from Tampa. I continue to be pleasantly surprised by bands who are sticking to hardcore and refusing to go with the “rapcore” hybrid I’ve lately become quite annoyed with.
Murder Suicide Pact’s music is abusive and finger-pointing. It’s unforgiving and damning. A good example is “Road Rage”: “Where’d you learn to drive?/I’ll give you some lessons/We can start right now/with my Smith and Wesson.” No-prisoners hardcore as it’s supposed to be, so say I. “I’m Not Cleaning Up This Mess” is a gruesome description of death by suicide that’s almost elegant. That is, without graphic description, they’ve captured the frustration and brain-boiling anger and horror that the person finding the body must experience. It’s brutal. I found myself reading the lyrics over and over again.
Other songs that should need no further description include “I’ll Get You First,” “Bite the Hand,” Obedience School,” and “Cancer.” This is not nice music, naturally.
