Strike 4 in the popular remix series, which in the past has brought us Front Line Assembly vs. Die Krupps and Wumpscut vs. Haujobb. In the inlay’s own words “The idea behind The Remix Wars is simple but innovative. Two groups or bands wage battle upon each other using samplers, mixing consoles, keyboards, and their creativity as weapons”. Serious stuff. Kinda like breakdancing competitions to resolve gang conflicts rather than drive-by’s. No, I’m sure it’s all in good fun, and this is definitely one of the best entries into the series yet.
Funker Vogt take V.A.C.’s “Futile,” “Malfunction,” and “The Dead,” and make them more beaty and militant. It’s like they dressed V.A.C. up and took them to a officers’ dance club. Velvet Acid Christ basically took Funker Vogt’s “Fortunes of War,” “International Killer,” and “Civil War,” and stuck the vocals way in the background and drizzled them with their evil electronics. It’s like V.A.C. stripped Funker Vogt of their uniforms, and took them slumming in Hell. Both bands do a fine job of rearranging each others work. Funker Vogt’s best effort here is “The Dead (alive mix).” V.A.C’s probably scored best with “Civil War (tripping in Boot Camp mix).” A requirement for fans of one or both bands.
