Hypnotic

A brilliant collection of remixes. 808 State themselves handle the majority, with a couple drop-ins from Brian Eno (good) and the Propellerheads (eh). Starting with a lush melodies, tracks like “Joyrider,” “Balboa,” and “Lopez” take on new and unexpected dimensions. Eno’s rendition of “Lopez” exists in a realm of rockatronics that I’d never known existed before, while the paranoid mix of “Paradan” by 808 State sounds like music for dejected robots.
