John Digweed

Global Underground 001 Sydney

Thrive

These discs were not meant to be shuffled. To do so would be to unravel the whole underground trip that Mr. Digweed has mixed for us. Disc one is journey through trance with a vertical slant, beginning upstairs in heaven with Fortunato & Montresor’s “Imagine.” Liquid Language’s “Blu Savannah” is the southerly swoop to earth, and the goose-stepping squared off beat of Head Effect’s “Wonky,” which in turn eventually gives way to the more tribal airs of Shapeshifter’s “Flood.” And it doesn’t end there. Expect to be removed from the house of trance on an alien pod of rhythm that descends to the depths of Lucifer’s hellish home before being spirited back to the skies on the angel wings of Albion’s “Air Disk.” Disc two? Well, if you’re missing any Digweed in your collection, I’m sure you’ll find it here. This is a journey that shouldn’t be missed.
