It seems that Buckcherry was paying attention in Rock 101 especially the lecture where you learn that the best way to get noticed on your first album is to sing blatantly about either sex or drugs. The first single, “Lit Up,” does not beat around the bush about their affection for nose candy, singing “I love the cocaine, I love the cocaine.” Okay. Anyway, I will say that this is a strong debut from this Southern Cal band. The music is similar in style to Black Crowes, but much more aggressive, which kept me interested. The first single should definitely get them lots of headlines, but the rest of the CD is solid enough to keep them around for a while.
