United Kingdom of Punk

The Hardcore Years

Music Club

Great collection of UK hardcore from the early to mid-1980s. Most of these bands were daily staples as I forged through college and afterwards, and they still sound, well, punk. This is a great comp for you kids out there with squares for parents. That is, your mom and dad were totally clueless to the fact that this music was happening all around them!

So What?! as the Anti-Nowhere League would say (“So What?” doesn’t appear on this record, but “I Hate People” does). This fine collection also includes tracks from the Business, Vice Squad, Angelic Upstarts, the Exploited, GBH, Peter and the Test Tube Babies, Addicts, Blitz, Chaos UK, Discharge, Cock Sparrer, the Varukers, the Crack, and Disorder (watch your ears on that last one). There is very little difference between listing to this now and listening to, say Mr. Yuck’s or Melmo’s radio show on WFIT circa 1988.
