The first track had me thinking there was some mixup at the plant, and some Mekons discs got screened with Whistler’s artwork. A lilting female voice, half-speaking, half-singing, levitating on top of well-instrumented, almost country music. Subsequent tracks dispel that notion, though I’ll say that if you enjoy the Mekons, or for that matter the sort of intelligent UK chanteuse pop acts like Lush or Belle and Sebastian, you’ll find plenty to keep you busy.
