Pretty Scars

Rare

There are times when it is just nice to take a drive on the freeway and listen to good old American rock and roll–fast and rich guitar-driven tunes with edgy and rebellious vocals and lyrics that are about good ol’ fashion battle scars – or rather pretty scars – of weathered relationships. Georgia natives Pleasantdales give just that in their latest release, Pretty Scars . It is hard to classify their sound, not so monstrously loud to be labeled thrash, yet melodic pop charm is not what they are after, either. Thus, leave it to a critic to compare them to another Southern rock favorite, Seven Mary Three, in what I call modern metal music without the death and definitely without the whiny wail that sounds like it came out of an impaired speaker system at a fast food chain.
