My Lunatic Friends

PopRockit

Like poltergeists, some musical hooks can lay dormant for years (days at least), then suddenly return to activity, batting fragile stemware around the kitchen cabinets of your brain when you least expect it. Deathray’s “My Lunatic Friends” is one such song – I’d dismissed the band as light pop fluff, but found myself mystified a few days later when I couldn’t track the origins of that riff that wouldn’t leave my head . Fortunately, tortuous weeks later, the mystery is solved and all hail Deathray’s spooky guitar/bass/drums/moog hauntings. There’s only two tracks on this disc, but it portends of great things to come.
