Marked For Life

Down on Positive Living’s Marked For Life : dig the band’s moniker, absolutely loathe the record. Yep, D.O.P.E. is pretty much yer’ run-of-the-Foot Locker urban-core pabulum, rendering itself as such due to the easily impressed (depressed?) proclivities of baggy-trousered suburban mallrats. And the record blows not only as dictated by form, but by content, hip-hop beats, pissed-off/up raps (Olde English, natch), aimless scratching, chug-thug guitars and all; in sum, the whole turgid affair is nothing short of an ass-scratcher. I dunno – maybe I’m a bit too Anglo for something so “multi-ethnic.” 88!
