Bouncing Souls

As luck would have it, the day I finally got to see Bouncing Souls also happened to be the day of the 10th anniversary of their first club gig. I would not have known this had there not been an announcement of same from the lads themselves, and they seemed in fine form and an appropriately celebratory mood, even taking credit for a break in the merciless sun when some early evening clouds rolled in. Basically very solid poppy punk from infamous ol’ New Joisey. The most memorable song for me, probably only because I can’t get the hook out of my head, was the new “Hopeless Romantic” (“I’m a hopeless romantic. You’re just… hopeless!”), out on Epitaph’s latest Pit comp, and also the title of their current release on that label. Good good good. But what’s up with those “cabby” hats? Must be a Yankee thing. ◼
