Dagda
CelticTrance
Paras/Owl
The liner notes of CelticTrance proclaim Dagda to be the chief of the Celtic gods, and also go into some detail about Celtic culture and history. That’s all fine and dandy, but basically what we have here is a fusion of traditional Celtic instruments and modern electronic rhythms that create a uniquely modern sound, while giving a nod to Celtic tradition and spanning the gap of many generations. Including vocals on a project like this is entirely optional, because this music stands alone with its combination of whistles and keyboards that imitate the sound of original the instruments used 2500 years ago. All the better, then, that lyrics were recorded for only four of the album’s songs. CelticTrance is good listening when your mind is focused on other things than the music or when you want to relax and just bask in the primitive, tribal beats.
