Scott Ritcher

11 Song CD

Initial

What hasn’t Scott Ritcher done? He’s owned two record labels (the legendary and now defunct Slamdek, as well as his current label, I Can’t Believe It’s a Record Company), wrote a book detailing his exploits of running a label in Slamdek A-Z , ran for Mayor of Louisville in 1998 as the Reform Party Candidate, published the recently resurrected and critically acclaimed K Composite magazine, done graphic design work for Initial Records, Doghouse Records, and Lumberjack Distro, just to name a few, leads the Metroshifter, who have recorded over 6 records, and have an upcoming tribute of sorts in the form of a CD with bands like the Get-Up Kids, Burning Airlines, Refused, and Promise Ring interpreting some of his songs….whew! That’s a pretty full plate, but somehow he found a way to fit in writing and recording this great acoustic solo album. The use of only his vocals and acoustic guitar are the perfect platform to showcase what a talented singer/songwriter he is. This is much more straight ahead than the stuff the Metroshifter’s acoustic record Generation Rx had on it. Mr. Ritcher’s easily recognizable voice and acoustic guitar made me appreciate his talent so much more. I can honestly say that I didn’t really expect to love or even like this record, but I do. Scott Ritcher leaves himself confidently vulnerable with his heart on his sleeve. these 11 songs prove that a singer/songwriter acoustic record needn’t be boring, repetitive or uninventive.
