Sarah Dougher

Day One

K

Sarah Dougher, formerly of the Lookers and the Corin Tucker project, Cadallaca, has created a wonderful new record. Day One is a collecting of highly intelligent, intricate songs. Eschewing the stereotypical screaming angst, Dougher hits listeners with poignant lyrics with delivered with a calm voice and mature outlook. She writes songs about pornography, love and Bella Abzug. To read her lyrics, Dougher’s words are so prosaic it’s hard to imagine them set to music, but she weaves these words around delicate melodies that really works to create an aural tapestry.
