The Sorts

Contemporary Music

Slowdime

The Sorts use guitar, bass, drums, electric piano, and alto sax to create a dynamic sound that still lends itself to spontaneity. Contemporary Music reminds me of a less jazzy Charlie Hunter Trio, but with more sax and an electric guitar instead of acoustic. The Sorts are helping to disprove the misconception that instrumental music needs to be either avant garde or formal, but instead it can be both and more. Any fan of non-traditional instrumental music that still retains structure and your undivided attention should go out and pick this up.
