Tonic

Sugar

Universal

Lots and lots of songs about love. That seems to define Tonic and all their work. Sales of this CD were boosted by the radio darling “You Wanted More,” from the American Pie soundtrack. Their songs seem to follow a similar vein of light alt-rock with angst-ridden vocals that somehow didn’t strike me as that sincere.

A couple of songs stood out, though. “Knock Down Walls” is a little bit harder rock than the other songs, and “Mean To Me” is similar musically, but the lyrics are interesting. This CD is bearable, but kind of bland and uninspired.
