Pain

Full Speed Ahead

Vegas

Pain returns with more more more of their hyperkinetic brand of music. Between the tight horns, acrobatic vocals and stomping groove, you could say that there’s a whole lot of ska in here, but I’d hesitate to label Pain as such. More than anything, they use these elements to form a sort of driving pop that sometimes reminds me of what Less Than Jake would sound like should they all lose their distortion pedals – clean, frenetic, sometimes more than a bit goofy, and catchy as all hell. Full Speed Ahead continues on fine Pain traditions like storytelling songs about characters, musings on the inner self, and a good time to be had by all. Bring extra towels.
