Core

The Hustle is On

Tee Pee/MIA

Like labelmates the Atomic Bitchwax, Core are a veritable time machine harkening back to the days of wah-wah indulgence, beats soaked in bongwater, and rabble-rousing- cum -braincell-destroying frontmen – yep, the early ’70s. At their most direct on The Hustle is On , Core can come close to the cantankerous, primeval maw of the Stooges; more often than not, the band just heaps on the Uriah. Consequently, Core’s space-blues jams often become drawn out to the point of self-flagellation, especially for spirits ( not the prog-rock band in the singular form) not acclimated to such psychedelics.
