The Lord and the Lard

The Lord and the Lard

Garth Forsyth – the voice behind the Lord and the Lard – is bound to invite more than a fair share of Tom Waits comparisons, given the gravelly nature of his voice and the run-down honkytonk of the band’s sound. “Money Bags” features some mighty fine saw playing alongside the bluesy piano and carefully brushed drums, paving the way for a wicked kazoo and jaw harp duet. I’d expect the Lord and the Lard to be busking at the dankest corner of the subway and liking it that way.
