Mazel Tov Cocktail

Self-released

I like this CD, from Pins, hailing from Melbourne, the home of the corporate offices of Ink 19 itself. First, Pins is a great name, surprised I haven’t seen it used before. The art direction and layout are great, especially for a local release, and the songs and energy level are good.

Still, I can’t helping thinking that this CD couldn’t have been better still. I get the distinct impression that the cuts are all first takes, with some songs having meandering tempos, and vocals often coming off like “scratch” vocals that were never gone over to get the phrasing right. With some more time and/or money, these guys can make a really great punk rock record. I hope they stick with it and do just that.
