Thee Impossibles

Who Invited These Guys Anyway?

X-Records

Well, when you get a stack of 10 or 12 records (and I sometimes do) and one is far and away your favorite, that says good things about that particular compact disc, and in this case, we’re talkin’ Thee Impossibles.

Don’t let the “Thee” fool you, these are not garage obscurists refusing to record in anything but mono. Rather, yet another entry in the very entertaining subgenre I have previously decreed as “Post-Ramonesia.” Thee Impossibles are especially poppy entrants, including some Farfisa-type keyboards and piano on a couple songs, thanking bands like MTX and Groovie Ghoulies, and able to make pogolicious songs out of even their bass player’s headache. Plus some garagey solos here and there, and a Holmstromesque back cover cartoon featuring our heroes being shunned by subculture trendies of every stripe.

In other words, Thee Impossibles do everything right. Get it.
