Looper

The Geometrid

Sub Pop

Loopy Looper, loping along with leaping lightness, broken by interesting mental conversations. Building on gently propulsive rhythms, Looper sprinkles bits of vocals and interesting sounds with childlike flourishes. “Modem Song” makes a subtle rhythm from the sounds of dialup. Will we one day listen to modems coupling with the same nostalgia as some people hold for a train whistle? Possibly. Looper makes me think of things like that. “Uncle Ray” is a jolly fellow. “Money Hair,” that doesn’t require an explanation. This is some of Scotland’s finest.
