Super Sexy Lady/My Number One

Rephlex

Today’s lesson learned: be careful what you ask for.

Usually I can count on Rephlex stuff being a mix of the slightly bizarre and retro-technologies, resulting in some twisted Atari game cartridge soundtrack. This meets the first two elements in the profile I suppose, but the end result is more along the lines of ultra-sleazy funk mixed with early ’80s dance music. Even Bogdan Raczynski getting his hands on “My Number One” for a remix can’t make this hold my interest. Eek.

The fact that the band Slaves to Sirens exists is impressive, but that they live, love, and breathe to play metal takes things to another level. Sirens documents the journey. Review by Charles DJ Deppner.
