The Second Coming
Whoa! Let me tell you how pleasantly surprised I was when I popped this little ditty into my CD player. Man, e.town concrete lay it down with authority. If I had to describe e.town concrete to somebody else, I would start off by saying that they remind me of Candiria, but groovier, heavier, meaner, and, dare I say, better! At first listen, I was hooked. Apparently, these young’uns did their homework and aced the surprise test.
The Second Coming starts off with “Soldier,” a ferocious slab of metal with jazzy twists and turns. The next song, “First Born,” has this delicate, plush intro which lures you in like a Siren luring in a fisherman. But, let me warn you, the music gets heavy and angry! This heavy anger only takes a break for track 5, “Guaranteed,” when e.town concrete lay down their smooth rapping skills. Damn, I dig that piano melody, too!! It has therapeutic qualities to it.
All and all, e.town concrete have managed to package most of their anger, fears and insecurities into one concise wrecking ball of an album. A definite must have for any fan of music.
