Heavy Metal 2000

Original Soundtrack

Restless

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out what’s going to be on the Heavy Metal 2000 soundtrack. Although not as groundbreaking as the original, it still has substantial merit. For one thing, this CD nicely incorporates a broad range of heavy music (which the original did, as well.) Heavy Metal music can mean different things to different individuals. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a plethora of knockout songs on here, like Pantera’s “Immortally Insane,” Machine Head’s “Alcoholocaust,” and System of a Down’s “Storaged.” But there are also some radio-friendly cuts, like Monster Magnet’s “Silver Future” and Days of the New’s “Rough Day.” Don’t skip over the electronic cuts, like F.A.K.K. U’s “FAKK U,” MDMFK’s “Missing Time,” and Apartment 26’s “Dystopia.” And lastly, there’s some room for the placid stylings of Bauhaus with “The Dogs of Vapour.”
