Could this be Anthony Sandor’s battle cry against those who called for his atonement? They wined about his Sarcelles ways and asked for his head. Well if Sandor is guilty of anything, it is his creations hedonistic soundscapes and inventive lyrical texture. Oh yeah, if you are still calling for his head, here it is in full bronze regalia (see cover). Musicsoldia reclines in the darker corners of the techno floor and takes a musical journey that resembles a seventy-minute war dance. This is not a diatribe, but a proclamation that Pills are indeed, relevant. Highlights include “I Preach to Party,” “April Sun,” and “Tomato Funk.” Although the low spot is not necessarily a bad song, the vibe doesn’t seem to match with the rest of the album. It is the Musicsoldia theme song and it is done by the great Lee “Scratch” Perry (irie!). Other than that ill-advised track, Musicsoldia is a strong album that keeps Pills at the battlefront. Bend over Paris Highbrow!
