Modern Humorist

http://www.modernhumorist.com

As a kind of persnickety cousin to The Onion, Modern Humorist still packs a pretty fair laugh wallop. The humor takes a bit more cultural I.Q. to fully appreciate than some readers may possess, but if Dennis Miller does not intimidate you, then this may be a good place to get some chuckles and an occasional guffaw. Two bits that really stood out on the site were “The Britney Papers” and “First Draft: The Empire Strikes Back”. “The Britney Papers” are a set of letters written to Britney Spears by the likes of Norman Mailer, George Plimpton, J.D. Salinger, and Camille Paglia. These letters not only skewer the mini pop diva, but are also terrific parodies of the writers’ styles. “First Draft: The Empire Strikes Back” provides us with an early treatment of the climactic scene between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader when Vader reveals that he is Luke’s father… or is that his first cousin twice removed? And just where does Bossk fit into the Skywalker/Vader lineage? Get yourself to http://www.modernhumorist.com to find out.
