Hold It Down

Epitaph

This is New York hardcore, as the first page of the liner notes proclaims. It certainly is hard. No one instrument or concept stands out on this album, and they are not trying to go as loud and fast as they can. It’s heavy music that occasionally goes into almost a rap-core feel in the verses. I like their attitudes, though. Track 8 is a speech about how hardcore is a way of life, and one day he’ll go to college and get a life, but until then[sigma] Fuck you! Still, there’s not much to differentiate them from the mess of hardcore bands. Their style is pretty straightforward. It’s worth checking out if you’re into that kind of thing.
