Moods For Moderns

Two Tracks Left

Doghouse

Moods For Moderns is a trio from Detroit, Michigan made up of former members of Empire State Games and King for a Day. Singer-guitarist Nathan Beale, bassist Ben Force and drummer/keyboard player Dave Shettler definitely have a knack for melodic pop crunch. The opening title track of this three-song debut EP has it all: the killer riff, the shaking tambourine, even some nice trumpets. The song brings to mind other power popsters, like the great Tommy Keene.

“You’re the One” is pleasant acoustic-based pop with tasty guitar licks. And “Halifax” is a staccato pop charmer with nice harmonies that bring to mind a band that hails from that Nova Scotian city, Sloan. Moods For Moderns now deserve a full-length record to show us more of what they can do. Fortunately, one is reportedly on the way before the end of the year.
