Hey, it’s another ska compilation. This one is a pretty good idea, though. It’s a good mix of some under-appreciated ska bands. It starts out great, with “Shed Some Skin” by Slow Gherkin. It’s a smooth, catchy mix of warm horns and ska guitar. It goes into a poppy song by the Ray-Guns called “Memorized Your #.” The first five songs are pretty upbeat, and then it moves into more relaxed numbers. All the bands are good without being too serious. “Skank Away” from One Cool Guy is a funny send-up of ’50s rock. This is for anyone who is tired of high-energy, loud and fast, punk sounding ska, but still wants to enjoy themselves. This CD is easy to swallow, and will have you tapping your toes.
