Tommy Guerrero

A Little Bit of Somethin

Mo Wax/Beggars Banquet

This is an interesting album. Sometimes, solo projects sound like the result of frenzied nights of bitter coffee and exacting expectations. Sometimes, they’re more like casual snapshots of an artist sketching out roughs on a sonic notebook. This is more of the latter, as Guerrero loafs through a fair amount of easy to enjoy tunes, ranging from the Sunday summer naptime of “100 Years” to the last-call samba of “As the Sea Holds Creatures Vast and True.” A great mix of occasional loops and on-the-spot improvisation.
