The Insomniacs

Get Something Going!

Estrus

Man, the Insomniacs just keep getting better and better. On Get Something Going!, the shaggy-browed trio’s trifecta long-player, the Insomniacs do indeed get something going, rocking harder than ever and popping more fruitfully than before, once again making modern mod-rock a force to be reckoned with in these amnesia-stricken times. As if the Lyres and the Count Five were more than mere ghosts of the past, the Insomniacs are just as apt to paint a paisley jangle as they are to shimmy out a Vox-driven crunch, drawing the line loudly and lewdly between garaged pop and garaged rock, never minding to split the difference but, rather, just letting the party get on with getting it going and the people get on with getting it on. Less a good throwback to mid-‘60s ethics than it is an even better throwback to good songs, Get Something Going! stands unmatched as the r n’ r sleeper of the year.
