The Sign’s Alive

Statra

This song is sort of a modern day version of Ace of Base’s “The Sign.” Judging from the acid imagery involved in this CD (“It dropped on your tongue and slipped on your mind”), Lypid would probably say something like “I saw the sign and it opened up my THIRD eye.” According to Lypid, the Sign is very alive. In fact, the Sign is six tracks worth of alive. Each track is a different dance remix, with styles ranging from Trance to Progressive House. The variance of sound is drastic at the extremes, but not so noticeable with some of the tracks in the mid-ground. Track six is the most unique as it is an instrumental track that uses reversed cymbal crashes with reverb. The only gripe I have about this album is that every couple minutes or so, the lyrics (which aren’t so profound to begin with) turn to repetition of the word, “check.” I’ve never been very partial to microphone checks in the middle of a song, no matter how musical or rhythmically interesting they’re made to sound.
