Postcards From Machine

Moth is a duo, creating sounds that combine into songs. Moth (Yeah, that’s his name) playing acoustic strum folksy indie guitar and singing with a voice that grooves and moves and slides like some Nick Drake meets Morrissey meets an older version of Beck. James Bullock creating the rest of the structure. The beats and loops and grooves that move from a Portishead smoothness to a Skinny Puppy snarl. Some darkness unfolds alongside misery in bluesy, minimal new wave hints, but the mood is soothing. The melodics between James’ high and floating back up vocals and the more in front heaviness of Moth’s words creates a nice balance between their two worlds.
