The Buddyrevelles

American Matador

Motorcoat

Instantly hit by a wave of guitar overdrive, spinning into visions of shoegazing days, but… Americanized. I can hear Chicago. Yes, this band is from Chicago, and they wear that proudly, yet subtly, on their musical sleeves. There’s more sounds coming out of this band that will remind you of anything from Swervedriver to Scenic, but sometimes you can catch a hint of a Tortoise stained guitar lick, jazzy bass line, sharp drum hit riff. The songs move steady but still unpredictable, through driving paisley underground pop and melancholic rock. Aaron Grant, playing guitar and singing, makes his voice call out soft but strong, and hitched on the smooth grit of the bass and the high curl of the guitar, it gets you in the right spot… it gets you.
